Back from Vacation!

Hello, my friends!  I'm back from a lovely vacation to the Colorado Rocky Mountains!!  DH and I toodled around most of the nearby ski villages taking in the breath taking sights and sampling the local cuisine.  We slept late and had no schedule!  It was wonderful.  I feel refreshed and ready to get back into the new projects waiting for me.  Thankfully, all was well at home for our grown kids who had to stay behind to work and go to school.  It's a bit of a worry even leaving grown kids, but we did it, and all was well.  Thank the Lord!!

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

I have a long list of things to begin working on and am raring to go.  I'll be working on Journey Four, preliminary stuff for my next fabric line, the next  Pocket Patchwork sew-along, and news about the Great Girlfriend Get-aways for 2013!

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Don't forget to send me a photo of your
pieced Pocket Patchwork ~ Busy Work quilt top!
(your quilt doesn't have to be quilted!!)
Email the photo to me, along with your name,
and where you live no later than JULY 7th

Your photo will be your entry to win a

This & That, Bits & Pieces

Well....dear reader.....it's vacation time for dh and me!!  We're off to the Rocky Mountains to visit ski-country in the summer.  On our must see list is Avon, Vail, Steamboat Springs, Aspen, Telluride, and whatever else we can find to amuse ourselves.  We love to travel and we hate the blistering heat of summer, so the cooler temps of the mountains call......

In the meantime, I just wanted to give you a tease about what's coming up here at Heartspun Quilts

I saw the flyers for our 2013 Great Girlfriend Get-Away trips, and they're looking great, and I expect they'll be ready when I get back from vacation.

I'm designing the next Pocket Patchwork Sew-along project and plan to release it in July.
I'll give you plenty of time to prepare, so just stay tuned to
this station and you'll be all-good!

I've also begun preliminary work on my next two fabric lines.....very excited about that.

Don't forget.....Heart of the Prairie will begin to ship to your local quilt shop July 1st!!

I'm planning a few blog give-aways in the next few weeks.

Oh, and....I will have a new, original project coming out in
Primitive Quilts magazine next year!  I'm thrilled about that!!

Gee....looking at all that....I'm glad I'm going on vacation.  I'll have my iPad with me, so I hope.....HOPE to blog while I'm away, but ya never know.

Hope you're enjoying your summer so far....and as always....I thank you for visiting with me today!

2013 Great Girlfriend Get-Aways!

I know we've just started summer, and I don't want to bum you out at all, but this is what's coming in just a few short months.  OK - even I just groaned.....my bad!
With a little planning, you can escape to this scene in February........

Lynne and I have been planning our 2013 Great Girlfriend Get-Away events calendar
and we're announcing two wonderful trips!!!

The first is a winter Girlfriend Get-Away to Cancun, Mexico!!  Escape the winter's cold for the beach and palm trees from

February 10th to February 17th, 2013.

We won't be cruising on this Get-Away!  Instead, we're flying to Cancun and spending the week at an all inclusive resort!!  The projects will be mostly hand stitching, which you can opt to take with you as you relax in a chaise lounge pool side!  Sigh.

Then....for our second trip, hop on board and cruise with us as we
view the glorious FALL COLORS Mother Nature gives, as we enjoy
the show from an ocean view traveling the shores of

Canada and New England!!!

September 21st - 28th, 2013

We'll sail from New York city up the coast to Canada.  Our ports of call will be

Halifax, Nova Scotia
St. Johns, New Brunswick
Bar Harbor, Maine
Boston, Mass
New Port, Rhode Island
New York, New York

Our travel partners and promoters at Quilting Corners are working on our brochures, which will list all of the details, prices, and booking information.  As soon as they are ready, I'll post that information, but for now......

Save the Dates!!!

Quilt Market Photo Tour

As we continue our tour of my favorite designers and their lovely booths, I have to begin with a woman near and dear to my heart by the name of Connie Huddleson.  Connie owns a quilt shop in Windsor, CO called The Little Wool Shoppe, and designs awesome wool projects (many unlike anything you've ever seen before....like her awesome purses!!) for her pattern company Starry Pines Patterns. Hugs to you, Connie!

Then, as I nearly ran my way around the market floor, I made a quick stop to take photos of the following booths.  I'll let the photos and the designer's work speak for themselves!!  If I continue to blab on and on about each designer, I'll be posting market photos on the Fourth of July!  Sorry if it's taking a long time to load my blog postings.  It's because I'm super-sizing the photos (and Blogger isn't too happy either!)  I want you to be able to see all the good stuff with extra large pictures!!

I'm giving you links to everyone's website.  If you see something you love, please contact the designer...I'm sure she'll be happy to hear from you!!

Joyce Weeks and Norma Whaley of Geoff's Mom Pattern Company

Pam McMahon of Pam's Piece by Piece.

Sherri Falls of This and That.

Celine Perkins of Perkins Dry Goods.

Dawn Heese of Linen Closet Designs.

Annemarie Yohnk of Quilts Remembered.

Vicki Olsen & Jill Shaulis of Yellow Creek Quilt Designs.

Jo Ann Mullaly of JAM Patterns.

Kathleen Brown & DeLoyce Tyler of Mountain Patchwork.

Evonne Cook of Clothesline Quilts.

Emily Hardwig of Red Button Quilt Co.

Amy McClellan of Under the Garden Moon.

And....last but certainly not least!  Carol Hopkins of Carol Hopkins Designs.

I hope you've enjoyed a peek at what Quilt Market is all about.  It's a wonderful experience.  It can be a bit heady thinking about all of the creative talent housed under that one roof for those three days, and how all of that creativity and inspiration makes it way to your local quilt shop!
I am humbled and grateful to be a part of it all!

Thanks for visiting with me today!

Quilt Market Tour Continues

Paula Barnes & Mary Ellen Robison of Red Crinoline
In my last Quilt Market post, I told you Tara Darr was my booth neighbor on one side...and lucky me....these talented ladies were my neighbors on the other side!!  Having great booth neighbors makes market even better!!  Recently, fellow Marcus Brothers designer Paula Barnes, and her partner, Mary Ellen Robison changed their company name from Bonnie Blue to Red Crinoline Quilts.  I love their new name, don't you?  Their latest Block of the Month quilt, Freedom Rings, is right behind them.  Loving the vertical print featuring the eagles!!

So many glorious quilts to see in their booth!

I loved the big red monogram "R" pillow on the bed!!  Notice the green quilt and the green color card on the floor?  That's Paula's new fabric collection called "Tavern Greens".  YUM!

Continuing on with fellow Marcus designers is the oh-so-talented Vicki Bellino of Bloom Creek.
You may also know Vicki from her fabulous new book, English Paper Piecing (Martingale).
Loved seeing the projects from that book in Vicki's booth.

I didn't have a whole lot of time to wander the aisles of market, but I made sure to stop at my fav's.  Here's a quick tour of my stop-n-go favorite designers.  This photo is of Kathy Cardiff.  Her company is The Cottage at Cardiff Farms.  As you can see, Kathy designs lovely folk art/country/prim plain yummy stuff!!  Click on the link above to check out all her designs, and look for her first book coming soon!

Leonie Bateman of the Quilted Crow Girls

A new and wonderful find for me are the Quilted Crow Girls from "down under".  Leonie Bateman and Dierdre Bond-Abel have a beautiful quilt shop in an old church in Tasmania (I saw pictures!).  Tara and I had the pleasure of meeting them right here in our home town because they came to teach a class at our favorite local quilt shop, The Quilt Merchant.  The girls hung out with us at our monthly Dear Jane meeting.  I'm so jazzed to say that they purchased the Prairie Women's Sewing Circle club for their shop!  The Prairie Women are in Australia!!

Me, Lisa Bongen & Tara Lynn Darr
Quilt market would never be complete without a stop to see what's new at Lisa Bongean's booth, Primitive Gatherings.

You know how I found Lisa's booth?  Well, I was really hoofing-it down the main aisle, returning to my booth from a quick lunch, when I saw this blue and light quilt, and stopped dead in my tracks!  I mean dead in my tracks!  I looked up to see what booth I was at, and no surprise, it was Primitive Gatherings!  I instantly fell madly in love!!!  I came in for a closer look......

Lisa's quilt is called Colfax County and those tiny triangles are only 1 inch finished.  Be still my heart!  Honestly, the photos just don't do the quilt or the quilting justice.  It is breathtaking.  I already own the pattern and am trying to reserve time to start cutting!!

This tiny wonder is called Primitive Star and features 1/2 inch finished triangles.  Love, love, love it!

Here are more gorgeous finds from Lisa's booth.

If you see any projects you must have (DUH), please click on the designer links, go forth, and happy shopping!  Blogger isn't allowing me to post any more photos for now, so my Quilt Market tour will continue with my next post.  I still have at least a dozen designers to show you!

I hope you're enjoying this little tour of mine.  I wish I'd of had more time to visit and take in each booth.  Alas....time goes by so quickly!!  Hope you enjoy your weekend.  Our son, Ryan, will turn the big 21 tomorrow, so our family will be celebrating.  He has taken an interest in wine (he works at a restaurant & winery) so we'll be off to discover the world of fine wines!  Should be an interesting dinner!

A Bit of Prairie Women's Sewing Circle Business

Hello Dear Reader!

I'm sorry to interrupt our market review, but a bit of serious PWSC club business has been brought to my attention.  I really felt I needed to share this with all of you.

A Prairie Women's Sewing Circle club member contacted me because she was suspicious that the quilt shop where she goes for club meetings was photocopying her club patterns.  A very big NO-NO!  The pattern product she was receiving was very poor and she was quite upset about it.  She had purchased other patterns of mine and knew that they are much higher quality printing than what she was receiving at club meetings.

I have talked with the shop owner in question and a resolution was reached.

If you are participating in a Prairie Women's Sewing Circle club, you should be receiving a full color, professionally printed cover with color all the way to the edges of the paper (no white borders).  The pattern pages you receive should be printed on one side only.  I have them printed at an office supply type store on high quality paper.  The shops must order the complete pattern set directly from me.  Photocopying of the pattern pages is not allowed.

I take great pride in producing a high quality pattern.  I hire professional photographers for clear images, and have the color covers professionally printed as well.  I want to be sure you are receiving the pattern as I intended.

If you feel you are not receiving legitimate patterns, please email me anytime.  You deserve the pattern you are paying for!

Thanks for your time!  Pam
