Market Day Sew~along / Part Five

Welcome back to my Market Day Sew~along.  After you make these blocks, we're half way done!  Let's put a little more red into the quilt.

Remember, the cutting instructions for the smaller size blocks will be listed in red.

Cutting Instructions
From light print #3:
    *Cut (24) 1 1/2" ( 1") squares.

From red print #2:
    *Cut (15) 1 1/2" ( 1") squares.

From red print #3:
    *Cut (15) 1 1/2" ( 1") squares.

Arrange (4) 1 1/2" (1") light print #4 squares and (5) 1 1/2" (1") red print #2 squares into a Nine Patch.

Sew into rows; in all cases, press to the red squares.  Sew the rows together, being sure to abutt the opposing seams (and use your pins to keep them in place).  Press to the top and bottom rows.

Your Nine Patch block should measure 3 1/2" (2") unfinished.

Repeat these steps to make (3) Nine Patches with red print #2, and (3) Nine Patches with red print #3.

I adore Nine Patches!  How about you?  More fun coming next Friday, and I'll be waiting for you!

  2. I love 9 patches too, and have just started making some more from the box of scraps I won from you last month. Those scraps have made their way into a number of things I've been working on and I've had so much fun with them. Of course, I'm also using them in the Market Day Sew Along.

  3. You said, " Arrange (4) 1 1/2" (1") light print #4 squares and (5) 1 1/2" (1") red print #2 squares into a Nine Patch." Did you mean light print #3? Thank you :)

  4. You're actually using light print #3, and both red prints #2 and #3 for a total of six Nine-Patch units.
    Hope this helps!

Also, fabrics and units have not necessarily been made and used in the order they will be placed in the quilt. I've mixed the order of assembly during the weeks prior to the reveal of the quilt.

    Hope this helps! Pam

  9. Well, I'm only about halfway finished with these, but I've blogged about what I've done so far.
