In Australia mammograms are free for all women over 50, paid for by the government. Mobile clinics (a great big bus) travel the country so that women everywhere can take advantage of the service. You get a letter in the mail reminding you, and there is talk of extending it to women aged over 40.
In the Netherlands every women from the age of 50 has a mammogram every 2 years. It's been paid by the government.
