What fun it has been to read all of your comments about your favorite color combos! So many of you love red...all girls after my own heart!! While I do so love red, it's not the only color I love, and like you blue, green, and black are among my other favs. Many of you are very fond of cheddar, and I'm really trying to get there! Thanks again for taking the time to comment and share your thoughts.
The winner of the Lockridge Mill quilt kit is.........(drum roll please!)
Sally from Ca....who said....Since it is fall, I enjoy working with a brown and gold combination of colors. I'm making a scrappy one right now, with cheddar thrown in. It kind of depends on what season it is as far as what colors I like to combine. For year round, though, I love red and white. I absolutely love your colors in Lockridge Mill and would love to win the kit!
Congratulations, Sally...please email your address, and I'll get your kit in the mail next week.
I so love the combo of blue and green that I decorated my living room with it and I love it very much. For me, it's very restful and soothing.
Our "conversations" about what blocks you like, and what color combos are your favorites, has me thinking about other things I want to ask you. What size quilts do you make most often? Do you like runners, wall hangings, table toppers? Do you make quilts for your bed, or a lap/throw size for your favorite comfy chair? Do you have a preference regarding rectangular quilts, or are square quilts OK, too?
If you're interested in winning a kit for A Light in the Window, comment about all the quilt sizes you prefer. Post your comment by midnight, Sunday, November 6th. I'll announce the winner on Monday.
Tomorrow morning I'm taking off on a road trip, headed for what I call the 'holy land of quilting" (tongue in cheek, of course!) I'll be visiting my favorite away-from-home shops in Illinois & Wisconsin - The Quilter's General Store, J.J. Stitches, and The Country Sampler - and retreating with girlfriends at a brand new retreat destination that looks to be just over-the-moon wonderful! I'm gonna try to post lots of pics on Facebook, so you can follow along with me on my adventures. That is IF Facebook and Wi-Fi Hot Spots cooperate!! Don't worry if you're not on Facebook as I plan to post photos on the blog in the next week or so.
Until then.....enjoy the extra hour of sleep, or use it as a bonus hour of sewing!! And, as always, thanks so much for taking a few moments to visit with me!! Pam

A Light in the Window ~ Quilt Four
A Light in the Window combines two more of my favorites......a quilt made of blue and green fabrics, and a Churn Dash block. Playing with the values of the fabrics and putting the blocks on point made this simple quilt a bit more interesting. The blocks are itty bitty, finishing at 3 inches, and cuter than heck. Did you crinkle your nose when you read 3 inches? Not to worry...remember....the pattern now has cutting instructions for a larger size block & quilt!

Oh wow! Your light in the window quilt is awesome and I love the 3" size blocks. So fun. My favorite quilts right now are doll size. There are just so many wonderful quilt designs out there and no time to do them all...but with doll sizes I can maybe come close LOL.
ReplyDeleteI just love Light in the Window quilt ! My favorite size quilt is lap size quilts. They can easily be used for a table topper or to throw on the couch
ReplyDeleteThanks for a chance to win this pattern, I have some Jo Morton fabric that would be just perfect !
A Light in the Window, another wonderful quilt! I have always made BIG quilts; 95 x 95-inches is what I would aim for and they usually end up larger than that. Journey 2 was my first time in a Prairie Women's Sewing Circle Club. I joined with the intent to get me out of my box. It worked! I still like the big quilts for the beds, but those little quilts have won a place in my heart.

Love your new quilt! I like to make all different sizes of quilts - miniatures, bed size, definitely lap quilts for cozy times. Not so much runners - I never seem to use table runners.
ReplyDeleteMiniature quilts are my favorite because I can try so many color combos and techniques without spending a fortune like I would with bedsize quilts. Throw sizes are my next favorite, who can watch tv without one!
ReplyDeleteChurn dash blocks always look good. I like queen size or larger quilts. To me that is a perfect size for my bed and good for a snug in the family room. If I make wall hangings I like them to be smaller than 40 X 40. The single bed quilt size is good for when I make quilts for children or as a gift of love for breast cancer, etc.
ReplyDeleteI make them all. My next projects will be a quilt for our guild's quilt bingo (minimum size of 60 by 70 inches) plus a miniature for a guild challenge. And then I have a Halloween wall hanging to make out of the pumpkin blocks I won in October. So I'm all over the map as far as sizes.
ReplyDeleteI mostly make wall hangings. But with 7 grandchilren I also make alot of twin size quilts. Love the pattern. Thanks for a chance to win.
ReplyDeleteDarlis
I like making lap size or smaller, that way I can use them on the backs of chairs, for runners and candle matts, doll beds and wall hangers. I have made lots of larger bed size for gifts so I have lots of scraps for my smaller ones. I love "A Light in the Window"

Although I love bed size quilts, I seem to be making a lot of small quilts lately. Just so many fantastic patterns out there and they are so cute and quick, well nothing is really quick for me. As far as bed quilts, I much prefer rectangular quilts. Have fun on your retreat, can't wait to see pictures.
ReplyDeletePam, you are so generous with your wonderful prizes! I started making lap size quilts, then made a few bed size quilts, but as time goes on, I seem to return more and more to lap sized! My "cuddle" quilts are just the perfect size to cuddle up in on a cold night to watch TV or to sit on the deck on a cool evening, perfect size to have in the backseat of a car, and a perfect size to take on the road to make a hotel room seem a little more special!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Love all your new quilts but the churn dash block is a favorite of mine. I just about love all size quilts: table runners, wall hangings, mini quilts, lap quilts -either rectangles or squares. I have not made many bed size quilts.
ReplyDeleteThanks for being so generous in sharing your kits.

Oh boy . . . Light in the Window is wonderful! As for quilt sizes, I like small-block wall hangings, and also standard-block wall hangings. Usually gift quilts that I make are lap size and oblong in shape. Perfect for cuddling up to read on the sofa. Thanks for all your great inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI seem to gravitate towards the smaller quilts. They are fun to make and give you instant gratification. Thanks for the opportunity to win.
ReplyDeleteHi Pam, haven't tried mini quilts yet mostly tabletop size and bed (rectangle). Love the new quilt and can't wait to see the pics from your retreat!
ReplyDeleteI love using repro fabrics and making small quilts or bigger ones. I like the idea of a 3 inch churn dash block .... can't wait to make it!
ReplyDeleteI love to display my small quilts on tables, on the wall, on chairs and in baskets. I like square quilts or rectangle quilts. If the quilt has 3 blocks in the top row, I like the bottom row to have 3 blocks, too.
Love the quilts in your living room! Please show us more pics of how you decorate with your quilts!
Thanks for the great giveaways!
I would so love to win this. My favorite quilt is teeny tiny quilts with some blocks being 2 inches Just learning, so have a long way to go on the TT's. Please enter me for a chance to win. I also love table toppers.
ReplyDeleteI make a square quilt (with half log cabin blocks and red and brown fabrics) for my comfy chair: about 50 inch.
ReplyDelete(so sorry for my english, I'm French!)
Have a good trip!
I used to make bed-size and throws, but being in PWSC got me into making smaller quilts, which I thoroughly enjoy. There is something about the smaller blocks that just calls to me--they are just so darn cute! I really like the quilt on the wall in your photo.
ReplyDeleteBecause I'd like to cover everyone I love in a quilt, I usually make lap-size quilts. I can finish them in a reasonable amount of time, try all kinds of color combinations, manage quilting them myself, and not spend toooooo much! A lap quilt doesn't really have to match anything else in it's surroundings ~ it's a cuddler. I have really enjoyed looking at your quilts and reading your blog, Pam. Enjoy your days away ~ I love the WI shops too.
ReplyDeleteHi Pam, I haven't made a Churn Dash quilt or a blue and green quilt, so I'd love to win!
ReplyDeleteI like the challenge of the smaller blocks and I can quilt the smaller quilts myself.
Love the heart quilt stand.
I love churn dash! and blue. and green. and grey. What sizes are my favs? I guess my answer would be YES! Lots of variety and change and new to me blocks and techniques. THAT'S what really threads my needle! :)
ReplyDeleteOMG - I wish I could be a fly on your shoulder for your trip, Pam! The Country Sampler is tops on my bucket list! I ADORE A Light in the Window - churn dash is my favorite block of all time! I even like the challenge of those 3 inch blocks! My favorite size quilts to make are lap quilts, but I make all sizes and 2012 is the "year of the bed quilt" for me!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
I love a bed size quilt. I want to be able to wrap myself in it! There is something soothing about being wrapped in a quilt.

I love large bed size quilts the best, but mostly make smaller wall size quilts cause they are fast to make and I can quilt them on my machine.
ReplyDeleteI'd love them all, but I seem to gravitate towards lap size quilts. Have a safe road trip.
ReplyDeleteI have three favorite sizes. 1. Bed size, to fit the bed of the person I am making the quilt for. 2. Throw, to throw over yourself when you lay down on the sofa or cuddle in a chair. 3. Small or doll size, I am making small quilts for a wall of doll size quilts in my entry way. Your kit for A Light in the Window would be so wonderful on that wall and I love blue! I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
ReplyDeleteI love quilts of ALL sizes! I'm really drawn to smallish size lately, so I can get more done!! We must be kindred spirits...love your designs, and my living room is also in shades of green and blue ( with dashes of other colors, too) I heard about this blog at Prairie Women's group this morning; fingers and toes are crossed, and looking forward to enjoying your blog each month!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful quilt! I tend to do more wall hangings and toppers, but I'm moving into larger projects lately. I decorate a large wall in my entry way with different quilts and this one would look wonderful. Thanks for the chance to win. Enjoy your retreat--nothin' better!
ReplyDeleteThe churn dash block is a favorite! I am more and more liking the miniature size quilts...perhaps it is the challenge of making those small blocks! Love the lap size quilts as well. Pillows are also a fun option...can't wait to hear about your retreat. Thanks so much! Sharon
ReplyDeleteI LOVE miniatures....and churn dashes!
