Circa 1880 Nine Patch Blocks

More blocks to inspire you!  I adore the fussy cut center of the block in the lower right corner.  Love fussy cutting fabric motifs!  There are a whole lot of them within the blocks of my quilt, and as I sit with it on my lap, I enjoy searching for those little gems.  They're little surprises waiting to be discovered.

If you enjoy putting fussy cut fabric motifs in your blocks, check out my new Fussy Cut Template set.  You can read more about them on my blog and buy them on my website.

Hope you've considered joining the Circa 1880 Club to make blocks and the heirloom quilt for yourself.  I imagine some of you are thinking it's way too hard and that you don't want any part of making blocks with little pieces.  Truth is....you don't make the blocks with little pieces!!  Really!!  Join the club and become a part of the private Facebook group where I share all my secrets about how I made this quilt in less than a year, working on it about an hour a day!!

  1. It's so much fun seeing the blocks in little groups like this and how amazing they all just blend together in the finished quilt. I picked up some fabric the other day and thought how one of the pieces would work well for a fussy cut center. Excited to get started.

  2. I am aching to get to Cyndi's to officially join in her shop club. It has been a busy month!! We have our state meeting this weekend and hopefully I can encourage some of my friends to join in the fun!

  3. Our club starts on Wednesday at Village Dry Goods. I was invited to demo the block construction and tips on how to make sure your blocks turn out the correct size.
This is going to be fun!

  4. Alas! There is no quilt shop near me that is offering this! Why do I have to live in a city where the quilters do nothing but modern quilts! :-)

  5. Your blocks are adorable Pam. I try to fit in at least an hour of daily sewing, even days I work. My life brings me joy and it is important to do what we love. Your advice reminds me of my favorite quote, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” ― Lao Tzu
    Have a wonderful day!

  6. Will this be a pattern eventually that we can do as a small group project? No shop near me is doing it.
