OOOPPS! and Introducing Betsy's Needlework

The other day, when I posted about this USA Wall hanging and door decor, I forgot to add the link to take you to my website to order the kit.  (Smack my hand on my forehead)

Click here to order the kit.

Place your order by November 27th.

Introducing Betsy's Needlework.  This is the quilt I designed especially for the collection.

I wanted to create a patriotic collection, but do something very different than had been done before.  Loving American history as I do, I started thinking about Betsy Ross making our first flag.

I know there are many who don't think Betsy made the first flag, and I'm not here to debate the point.  What I do know, is when you think about Betsy Ross, we do think about the first flag, and quite frankly, there were hundreds of women and men who were making flags for our fledgling nation.  Betsy's Needlework pays tribute to all of those needleworkers who made an untold number of all different types of flags.  The sewing machine wasn't invented until 1848, so think of all of the flags that were made by hand!!

This is one block in Betsy's quilt.  The folks at Marcus Fabrics worked hard with me to create the Colonial 13 circle stars print.  The 13 circular stars are printed on the fabric and separated by subtle dotted lines so you can cut the square to sew into the block.

The sashing stripe is a replica of an old bunting I found that I just love.  You will have a lot of fun playing with that stripe if you choose.  There are lines of stars and the red/blue bunting all measuring in quilting increments so you can cut, sew and play!

Isn't the main bunting border magnificent?!!  The Marcus Art Dept. did such an awesome job of making a bunting from a photo I had of a building draped with bunting from the 1700s.

Wait until you see the fabric....it's is so detailed and beautiful!

Obviously, I used it as my border, but imagine making a fireplace hearth banner?  Creativity will take over!

Click here to see all of the fabrics in my Betsy's Needlework collection.

Patriotic Stars is another quilt made from the Betsy's Needlework fabrics.  It has a very pretty whimsical floral print as the background, giving a soft feeling among the red and blue stars.

Betsy's Needlework will be delivered to your local quilt shop in December.  You can email me for a shop that has the fabric and kits.  Pam@HeartspunQuilts.com

Wishing you and your family a very bless and Happy Thanksgiving!

Keep your needle busy and your heart content!

PRE-ORDER USA Wall Hanging !!

I'm super happy to finally introduce my USA Wall hanging and door decor panel to all of you!

Yes!  This is a pre-printed panel!!  No sewing the top together, it's all done for you!!  The team at Marcus Fabrics and I worked very hard to make this panel perfect, and I'm so proud of it.  Even up close, you will be hard pressed to tell that it's not pieced.

I designed the panel with the Colonial flag and different fabrics in each stripe of the flag.  And, I really wanted to be sure USA was included.  That would have meant some applique work had I designed this wallhanging to be pieced, but no worries!!  The USA is printed for you.  The USA letters look like they were made with a quill, and the background looks like old parchment paper.  The wallhanging is surrounded by an old bunting print I found and is quite spectacular.  This quilt really is one of a kind!

Order your kit today, which includes the panel, backing, binding and fabric to make the optional hanger.  You can have this quilt longarm quilted as I have done, hand quilt it, or quilt on your home machine!  Bind it and it's done!  Show your patriotic spirit on any door or wall!

I know we are all decorating for fall, and soon for Christmas, but this fabric is coming in December.  Marcus only prints a finite amount of panels, so we have to get them while we can!

Quilt size is 27 x 36.  My finishing instructions are included with your kit.

My Betsy's Needlework fabrics will arrive mid-December, and your kit will be sent as soon as possible.

Place your pre-order no later than November 27th!

Keep your needle busy and your heart content.  Be well.....

Pam's Patchwork Stars

Look what's shipping to quilt shops right now.  Pam's Patchwork Stars convenience fabric!

Pictures do not do justice to how crisp and beautiful this fabric really is.  Marcus Fabrics did an amazing job producing this print in the highest quality possible.  Sure, you can use it as the backing of a wonderful quilt which is the most common use for convenience prints, but this print can do so much more!

My friend, Debbie, made this needlebook bag for me and I love it!!  It's perfect for holding my scissors, threads, pattern and it has a needle keep in it, too!  It opens on the arm of my favorite stitching chair, keeping all my tools right where I need them.  The pattern is Just In Case, By Annie.

Debbie also made me this sweet bag, called Clam Up, also By Annie.

The Clam Up bag can be made in a wide variety of sizes so you can choose which will work best for you.  Also, patterns By Annie come with video tutorials to help you in making the bags.....how great is that?  Don't they look wonderful in my Patchwork Stars print??

I made a bunch of these project bags.....something I admit I am obsessed with making in a host of different fabric combinations.  They are just perfect for keeping all the parts of your project together, and the vinyl lets you see what project is inside.  I probably have a dozen bags, all different fabric combos, and each has a project I have prepped, or is in progress.  The are very easy to do....really!

The top header fabric with the zipper shows different prints from the collection.

You can find the instructions to make a project bag for yourself on YouTube.  The video is very good as she shows you each step in the project.  Search this title on YouTube:

Flosstube #23.5 How to make Vinyl Project Bag - small and large

I'm excited to say that my convenience fabrics have been a huge hit with quilters...thank you!  (I did a multicolored Log Cabin last year, and now the Patchwork Stars print.) So much so, that we have planned on continuing with more of them!  Very excited about that.

Coming very soon is my next collection called Betsy's Needlework.  I'll tell you all about it in my next post.

Until then, keep your needle busy and your heart content.  Be well.......

What's New

Hi!

I thought I'd catch you up on a few new things happening here at Heartspun Quilts.

Plumberry 3 has been delivered to quilts shops and I think it's my favorite plum line so far.

Look at the range of colors!  Love it so much.  There has to be a shade of purple, plum or lavender in this collection that calls to you.  And, there are pretty neutrals for your piecing pleasure as well.

Sugar Grove is the quilt I designed just for Plumberry 3.  Half Square Triangles made into Pinwheels give the quilt lots of motion, and Quarter Square Triangles put them in a fun setting.  Quilt size is 68 x 82.

The Sugar Grove pattern is available here.

Every now and then, I design a flannel line.  Just in case you don't know, Marcus Fabrics makes the softest, coziest flannels I've ever felt!  Luscious!

Mercantile Stars is the quilt I designed for the Mercantile Flannel collection.  With flannel, it's much easier to make a quilt with large pieces, so I went for the easiest of all.....a quilt made of squares!  Is there an easier quilt to piece than one made of all squares?  Well.....just about all are squares.  I had to add a little pizazz with some stars in the middle.  Those are easy stars, too!

The quilt is colorful and wonderful to snuggle under with plenty of room for two.  Quilt size is 75 x 75.
And....this is a pretty quick quilt to make!

The Mercantile Flannel fabrics are in quilt shops right now.

The Mercantile Stars pattern is available here.

Coming very soon to a quilt shop near you is my new Patchwork Stars convenience fabric.

I loaded this fabric with tons of different prints so it really is quite scrappy.  Marcus produced a super high quality fabric keeping the colors vivid and crisp.  Honestly, it will be very difficult for anyone to know you didn't piece these stars yourself!

In my next post, I'll show you some of the goodies I made using this fabric.  It's gonna be a hot seller, so buy it when you see it!

I also created six companion prints to go along with the Patchwork Stars print.

Oh, you're gonna LOVE this fabric!

If you need help finding a shop that carries these collections, drop me an email     Pam@HeartspunQuilts.com

That's all for now.  Keep your needle busy and your heart content.  Be well, my friends!

It's Been Too Long!

 Hello Dear Quilting Friend,

It has been a few months since I have written a post....too long, for sure!  A lot has been going on these many months, and I just needed a break.

I had back surgery, which was successful, but took a very long time to recover from.  I did my physical therapy, and followed my restrictions, but all the while I was aching to return to normal life.  Just about the time I was done with PT, one of my dear friends who works for me suffered a health crisis.  It lasted a few months, and this meant I would pick up her responsibilities, which I did until she returned.  Upon her return we both realized that she would no longer be able to continue doing everything she had done in the past.  We had to reassess what we could do going forward.

Change is the one sure thing in this life, and I have made some needed changes.  Both my friend and I are no longer 'spring chickens' as they say, and find it necessary to discontinue offering kits, bundles and yardage of my new collections.  I do still have lots and lots of prints in stock, and will continue to make the popular color-bank fat quarter bundles...even with brand new fabrics.

I will continue to design fabrics for Marcus Fabrics, and design quilts, and write the patterns for my new quilts for the foreseeable future.

There are many, many quilt shops who offer my kits, bundles and yardage of new collections.  If you need help finding a shop to buy what you need, just email me Pam@HeartspunQuilts.com, and I will see if I can help.

PLEASE, do not send me messages through Facebook and Instagram asking questions as I don't often remember to check for messages there.  Emailing me is the best way to contact me as I look at email frequently throughout the day.

So, let's catch up on what has been happening since my last post!

Nineteenth Century Sparklers arrived in quilt shops in June.  Yes, these prints are quite bright and not my usual palette at all.  While visiting the archived quilts at Old Sturbridge Village, I was treated to a bunch of quilts made in the very early 1800s and was struck by how bright the prints were.  They were quite popular at the time, offering a change from the muted madder colors.  I was intrigued, to say the least.  While my usual palette will always be my first love, I wanted to bring these bright prints into a special collection for all those quiltmakers who enjoy them.  And, quite frankly, you know the benefits of adding a brighter print, like cheddar, into scrappy quilts for the added sparkle!  Take a look at these unique prints and add them to your stash.  They are sure to add sparkle to any quilt!

Plumberry 3 is about to hit your local quilt shop any day now.  I happen to love purple fabrics and find that there are never enough of them on the quilt shop shelves.  So, my Plumberry series has been my answer to that problem.  There are 5 light prints and 15 shades of purple!  All are genuine historic reproduction fabrics and all are yummy!
Sugar Grove by Pam Buda of Heartspun Quilts

Sugar Grove is the quilt I designed for Plumberry 3.  I am binding it right now, and the pattern will be available in about a week.  The block size is 7 inches and the quilt measures 68 x 82.

Don't you LOVE this tote bag?  Made from my Pam's Cabin convenience fabric, you'd have a hard time telling that you didn't piece the Log Cabin blocks yourself!  Made with crisp, clean colors, this Log Cabin print made a wonderful tote bag.

And...my Log Cabin Tote bag is now a kit!!  There is a limited quantity of kits available.  The kit includes all of the fabrics needed to make this tote, and INCLUDES  the pattern, all for the low price of $30 plus shipping.
Click here to order your Log Cabin Tote bag kit before they're gone!

While I was 'resting' from blogging, I sure didn't rest designing new fabrics!  Coming very soon is my second flannel collection, Mercantile Flannel.  The quilt top is done and soon to be quilted, so I'll have pictures of this super soft and cozy quilt coming soon.  Oh, and news about the many new collections as they are available.

Keep your needle busy and your heart content.  Be well.....

Pre-Order Tree Farm Quilt Kits & Bundles!

Tree Farm is my newest fabric collection and it's coming soon.  This collection doesn't scream Christmas but sure does bring the holiday to life.

Tree Farm designed by Pam Buda ~ HeartspunQuilts.com
This quilt is called Tree Farm and is the main quilt featuring all of the fabrics in the collection.  Christmas trees are the focus of our Christmas holiday, and I wanted to create a quilt celebrating the tree.

The large blocks have a tree in the center, surrounded by a red wreath.  The block is 18 inches and is made from Half Square Triangles and connector corners.  Pretty easy piecing.  The quilt measures 88 x 88.

Christmas Stars designed by Pam Buda ~ HeartspunQuilts.com
If you're a star block lover like me, you understand why I had to create a star quilt using the Tree Farm collection.  What would  Christmas be without without some twinkle?  This quilt, called Christmas Stars, features green and red stars and is surrounded by a Flying Geese border, then framed with a red border using the feather tree print.  I adore the feather tree print and I used it a lot.  This quilt measures 72 x 81 with 9 inch blocks.

Christmas Lily designed by Pam Buda ~ HeartspunQuilts.com

The final quilt features a classic Carolina Lily block.  The blocks are made with Flying Geese and connector corners, so very do-able, and has a touch of applique for the stems and the leaves.  This quilt is a quintessential Christmas design, and I love it!  Called Christmas Lily, the quilt has just three fabrics and measures 25 x 25 inches.

There are fourteen prints in the Tree Farm collection.  Four warm neutrals, four reds, four greens, one brown (for the tree trunks) and a dark green/black pine print for the Tree Farm quilt border.

The Tree Farm fabric is due to arrive early in June.  I will ship your quilt kit(s) and bundles just as soon as I can get them all cut and prepared, which will be a little later in June.

You can pre-order any and all of the Tree Farm quilt kits.  There are options for a specially priced backing for the quilts also.  You can read all the details for each quilt on my website.

Click here to pre-order a quilt kit.

You can also pre-order a Fat Quarter bundle, Half Yard or Full yard bundle as well.  (Half yard and full yard bundles are only available as a pre-order.)

Please place you pre-order before May 5th!

Keep your needle busy and your heart content.  Be well, my friends.  And, as always, thank you for supporting my little business.  I wouldn't be here without you!
