It's always a thrill to design new blocks, play with fabrics and layouts, and have your design chosen as one of the 100 blocks for this unique magazine!  This issue, Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Volume 7 is just full of great blocks I know you'll want to play with!!

This issue will be at your local quilt shop and on the newsstands
May 7th!

Tucked inside, you'll find my block, Towne Square, on page 47.
I made this block using fabrics from my very first fabric line,
Heart of the Prairie for Marcus Fabrics.

The angles within the block create an interesting secondary pattern.

Add some sashing for another look.

Wanna try?  Play with the design and see what you come up with!

How about a give-away??

Visit my website and pick out your favorite
Heartspun Quilts pattern.

receive their favorite pattern and a few special prizes,
including a copy of Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Vol 7!!!

  4. Congratulations on having your block published in Quiltmakers 100 Blocks magazine. I like your Town Square block and am impressed by how nicely it has a secondary pattern created by the angles. I can decide if I like that one or the one with the sashing better! I also really like your Heart of the Prairie fabric line. I think I like the Heartland Heritage Sampler pattern the best but Tussy Mussy comes in a close second. Thanks for the chance to win!

Kind of like seeing your teacher in the grocery store for the first time. Anyway, I like your Fab Four pattern very much although I had already admired and I think Pinterested a quilt made from the Prairie Squares pattern. Another connection I just made. 54. Congrats on a wonderful block being accepted for a great publication. I looked at the patterns and slected Little Red Schoolhouse. I love that there are not Y-seams. I attended a one-room school for 4 years while resembled the pattern. I love the flying geese with it. I bought "modern" fabric for a house quilt and have never used it. I think it would make terrific schoollhouse, too. Give a different look to a vintage style pattern. Blue is my favorite color and naturally I love the Little Blue Schoolhouse kit. Great job!

    Your block is great.

Your patterns are all very nice. It was tough choosing but then I saw the one named, Tussy Mussy and had to take a closer look. I love Dresden Plates and the small picture almost looked like something similar. When I clicked to look at the larger picture I knew I needed to choose that one. It's awesome and one I had never seen before now. BUT.........as much as I love that one, I continued looking at the rest instead of stopping there. Then I saw the Wee Whimsies~Round Two and thought those would be super fun to make. I can see many of those becoming hot pads for Christmas gifts and mug rugs or little wall hangings or a lot of fun things.
So, that's the one I would choose; Wee Whimsies~Round Two.
Thank you so much for the chance to win our choice of a pattern and the magazine. How nice of you.

  155. In Journey 4, the blue schoolhouse pattern is one that has caught my eye! I really like it. I'm now enjoying your Heart of the Prairie fabrics and incorporating them into a Civil War sampler quilt that a friend and I are working on together.

    ReplyDelete
  156. I chose The Soldier's Wife just because of the name...because I am one. But as I read your description about how wives stitched while they waited for their husband's to return from war, well it kinda hit home because that is exactly what I did in 2010. I made a deployment quilt to busy myself because by February, I hadn't heard from my husband since Christmas of 2009 and it wasn't until April that I finally got an email from him. By then the quilt top was done, and now my Garden Trellis quilt is a reminder of how I grew stronger in the Lord while waiting!

  162. Gosh, that was hard to pick just one, but I have it narrowed down to "The Soldier's Wife". Several of my great, great, g'fathers and also various uncles and cousins were in the Civil War. I imagine that their wives stayed home and were probably very lonely during the time that they were away. Trying to hold down the homestead and care for their families by themselves in those times could not have been easy.
