Primitive Quilts and Projects ~ Fall 2015 Issue!

I'm very blessed to say that I am one of the lucky designers to have a project in one of my favorite magazines....Primitive Quilts and Projects,  Fall 2015 issue!

Photo used with permission by Homespun Media LLC.  Photo courtesy of Jim Osborn.
I love a sampler quilt, and in this quilt called Simply Charming, I combined two of my loves...sampler blocks and stars!   Each sawtooth star block has a different sampler block in the center for some very fun piecing!
Notice how your eyes are dancing around the quilt?  Do you find yourself looking at the centers of each star, and all the warm, lovely colors and prints in the fabrics?  You and I can thank my pal Lynne Hagmeier of Kansas Troubles Quilters for the beautiful fabrics as I used a bunch of KT charm squares to make everything but the last border in the quilt.  Fun with color play, stars, and sampler blocks....you'll no doubt have a lot of fun piecing this quilt for yourself!

And, just in case you'd like to buy a kit, using a variety of Kansas Troubles fabrics, you can!!  Just call Jaime at KT Bernina and Quilts (785) 488-2120.

The fall issue of Primitive Quilts and Projects is available now at your local quilt shop and has 14 more wonderful fall projects to welcome the changing season.  AND.....

I have three extra issues of the magazine that are lonely and need a good home, so...leave me a comment about the end of summer and beginning of fall, and what you will be working on in the next few months.  Post your comment and I'll choose winners on Sunday.

We've got to keep our sewing machine and hand piecing needles busy and happy!

  1. My daughter just moved into a new home and I want to make a lap quilt as a house-warming gift for her. She prefers modern quilts more than the ones that I like, but I'm happy to do just what she wants.

  3. I am making an adaptation of your quilt right now. I have 4 of the 5 blocks done. Instead of a star I am doing a shoo fly and then your center blocks. This one is not for me, but I will do again with the stars for me. I love it... And I do not need a magazine I subscribe.

    Thanks

  7. I love your quilt! And what perfect fabric for it. As summer is heading into its final month, I'm quilting like crazy, trying to work through a rather large pile of tops. I may save the binding for cooler weather. What better way to cozy up than with a quilt in your lap! thanks for a chance to win.

  8. Gorgeous quilt, Pam. I have some beautiful KT fabrics just waiting for this quilt--love the sampler within the stars!
I am churning out the minis and trying to gear up to sash some star blocks that have been on my design wall most of the year! Then there is the Fox quilt for my granddaughter's birthday, and my youngest son's college graduation T-shirt quilt waiting for my attention. : )

  14. Can't wait to get a copy of the magazine for the Simply Charming pattern. Here in the desert SW we are looking forward to cooler weather. My quilt guild had a sewing day today to launch our annual Christmas stocking charity project. We try hard to sew lots in the summer months when it is too hot to be outside and use the fall months to anticipate cooler temperatures and prepare to return to outdoor activities.

That includes the larger of one made in one of your sewalongs. Then, this fall, I can rewRd myself with some new de stashing projects! Love scrappies- and making room for new fabric!

  38. Wow, I just don't know where the summer (if we had one) went. We had more rain and a nasty tornado in my town than every before! So right now I'm working on Christmas gifts and hoping to get a group together to work on pillowcases for the displaced children in our town! Lots to do before I even think about the snow flying! 39. I do love fall, but I wish summer would go on for forever. I love to spend time outside in the summer, I love gardening, I love having the windows open so the summer breeze can come in. Autumn is lovely, but it starts to get chilly, and I prefer the summer temperatures. Btw, your sampler quilt is lovely. 😊

  42. Pam, I love your quilts! I just finished up a round robin with my guild, have cleaned up my sewing room, re folded fabric and am ready to go again! I have several projects to finish, and endless ones I want to start. What a delicious dilemma! We're enjoying a weekend at the lake. Once fall comes, I'll spend less time gardening, which more time for quilting!

  47. Fall is my favorite time of year, but it took me a long time to figure it out. ; ) Not until I was out of school and settled into a career, did I realize it. Now years later, at summer's mid-point, I know it's time to start getting ready for cooler weather. Time to order firewood, and get the woodstove chimney cleaned. Time to go thru fall clothes and decide if it's time to replace anything. In cooler weather, I can look forward to having a quilt on my lap to finish the binding by hand.

I'm a fan of your quilts and fabrics, as well as Lynne's KT fabrics, so would love to win a copy of the magazine.

    Best - Jeanne

PS - Hah! Should probably update my webpage. LOL
