Spellbound by Pam Buda

Spellbound is the large quilt I designed using all of the prints in the Cheddar & Coal 2 collection.

Here is a sample of the blocks in Spellbound.  We are in the midst of piecing this quilt, and the three Haunted Halloween quilts, but haven't made a lot of progress just yet because the Lily's Locket fabrics arrived, and we've been cutting, and cutting, and folding pieces to ship the kits and bundles.  (Kits and bundles are shipping this week!)  I thought you'd like to see at least one block with the actual fabrics.  I love them!  Don't you just love the movement in the black fabric?  Such a great print.

All three Haunted Halloween quilts are included in the kit.  You will receive a 10 x 10 precut, all the yardage for blocks, backgrounds, borders and binding.  Oh, and backing fabrics for all three quilts are also included.  Did I mention the pattern is FREE with pre-order?

Pre-Order Cheddar & Coal 2 Quilt Kits & Bundles!!

 

I've been anxiously awaiting the arrival of my new Cheddar & Coal 2 fabric collection.....and it's almost here!  Here's your first look at the fabrics in the collection.

There are three colorways of this gorgeous floral print.

...eight cheddar prints....

...seven black prints....

...and six neutral prints.  Twenty four prints in total.

Now, here's a look at what I've created using these yummy fabrics.

Spellbound by Pam Buda of Heartspun Quilts

Halloween is truly one of my favorite times of year.  It brings happy childhood memories, and I loved enjoying the holiday with my own kids.  There's something about the striking contrast between the black and orange fabrics that is fun to decorate the house with.  And I really, really enjoy designing fabrics and quilts for Halloween!

Spellbound is my new quilt featuring all of the fabrics in my brand new Cheddar & Coal 2 fabric collection for Marcus Fabrics.  Half of the blocks have a light background, and the other half have beige backgrounds, making the quilt blocks 'glow'! I love that!

The quilt is made using modern rotary cutting and piecing techniques.  No special rulers required.  The quilt measures 70 x 79.

You can pre-order just the quilt kit, or choose to add one of the four backing choices.  Usually, I offer just one backing print, but I couldn't make up my mind which one you'd like.  So, I decided to offer you four backing choices!!  The backing is only $11 per yard when ordered with the Spellbound quilt kit.

Cheddar & Coal 2 fabrics are supposed to ship in mid-April.  So, it will take a little time to cut, fold and assemble the kits, but I will ship them to you just as soon as possible.

I'm accepting pre-orders until Monday, March 13th.  

As always, I feel it's very important to mention that your local quilt shop may be getting Cheddar & Coal 2 as well.  I always encourage you to purchase from your LQS before buying from me.  It is imperative that we all continue to support our LQS.  Not sure if they will have Cheddar & Coal 2?  Give them a call and ask them.  Please...support our wonderful quilt shops!

Quilt Archaeology ~ Welcome Spring! Revealed

 

I don't know about you, but I need a burst of spring colors to lift my wintry mood.  Welcome Spring is my new Quilt Archaeology project!

Welcome Spring is an exact replica of this little antique cutie of a quilt.  Easy, right?  Nine Patches and a checkerboard border.  Well, I made it super easy to piece, and mixed up the colors for a happy spring mix.

I made my quilt with six assorted spring colored prints and Marcus Fabrics special Aged Muslin to give the quilt its lovely aged look.

Your kit will have the exact same fabrics as my quilt!  The Welcome Spring quilt measures 17 x 23.  That's a nice size quilt for FREE!

In the past, I have done a sew-along, but I've discovered that the majority of you complete the quilt on your own, and quicker than the weeks the sew-along would be.  And, the piecing is very simple, and nothing you haven't done before, so I decided not to have a sew-along this time.  

During my last Quilt Archaeology event, there was some confusion about getting the project pattern for free.  

So, let me say again....the pattern is FREE only until February 27th!!

Please download the pattern before Monday, February 27th!!  After that, it will be available for a nominal fee.

Pre-Order Lily's Locket Quilt Kit and Bundles!

 

My new collection, called Lily's Locket, will be arriving in March.  I'm so excited!  

Sweet Pea quilt, by Pam Buda

Sweet Pea is the quilt I've designed using all of the fabrics in Lily's Locket.

This is the beautiful floral print featured in Lily's Locket.  I must admit....I'm not usually drawn to this type of floral, but I am in LOVE with this print!  I had to design a collection around it, and Lily's Locket is it.  

As you can see in the quilt image above, this gorgeous floral is the focus of the quilt.  I chose a block that would use the coordinate prints and still show the floral beautifully.  I sized the block to be large for the same reason.  

There are four assorted blue prints.....

Four assorted red prints.....

Four assorted green prints.....

Three assorted pink prints....

....and four assorted brown prints.

These are just some of the blocks for the Sweet Pea quilt.  I thought you'd like to see how the fabrics look when they're pieced together.  I can't wait to see it all done!

The quilt measures 88 x 99.  It also features a pieced border of quarter square triangles to bring all of the coordinate prints and colors to the outside of the quilt.  

Lily's Locket will arrive in March, so please ask for it at your local quilt shop.  I always encourage you to shop at your LQS before shopping with me.  It's imperative that we patronize our quilt shops and keep those treasured businesses going!
